Twixt eBook SE Diemer Sarah Diemer
I've read a few things by Sarah in the past and that made me want to read this story. I like her twist on LGBT science fiction. She's very creative with her stories. This story was a little choppy, in terms of writing style in this novel. I had no clue where it was headed, but it kept me interested and entertained. The characters and plot grabbed my attention right away, but it's not a hard or long read. The story unfolds slowly and by the end you have a greater understanding of the whole universe she creates.
I do wish the end would have been a bit more explained. It felt a bit rushed toward the end. I wasn't left with questions, but I wanted a little more detail in the final moments.

Twixt eBook SE Diemer Sarah Diemer Reviews
I love the way S E Diemer writes! I love this book! Though all her books leave me wanting more, this one in particular just kind of left me high and dry. It just ended and I felt there was so much more that could have been said
Sarah Diemer is my favourite e-writer right now. Her books are imaginative and well-written, with characters that you actually want to see succeed. My only comments would be that her books tend to end rather abruptly (this one in particular), and I think that she could go a little more into detail with the romantic scenes as she barely touches on them, but that's every writer's prerogative, and I'll keep buying and reading her books regardless because she is a very talented storyteller. I recommend this book. Well worth the time and money.
This came out of nowhere and hit me like a freight train! I was hooked right to the end. So many twists and turns, and all it seemed natural, not forced. I was left with my jaw on the ground....speechless. This was the second Sarah Diemer book I read, and the that cemented her as one of my favorite fantasy authors. Her writing is very tight. There is no pause, no word used without meaning. It is very rich and textured. Another four star!
I enjoyed the measured revelations that both moved the story along, helping the reader piece together the world as the protagonist did. The twists were beautifully revealed and the denoument was moving. Even the obnoxious womanizing character turned out to be more than one-dimensional and wasn't just there to serve as a potential romantic attachment. The romantic attachment that did come about was sweet, unexpected, and just the way love comes to you when you least expect it. Nor was romantic attachment the focal plot point, which is appreciated.
The ending was lovely and strong. Despite not wanting the story to end, it was paced so well, it felt right. I hope to read more from this author.
My favorite part of this book was the tone. It was dark and desperate and mysterious. The prose was beautiful. I enjoyed the imagry; the black-winged Snatchers and the lure of Nox were some of my favorite bits.
This book would have been perfect for me EXCEPT for a regrettable series of narrative info dumps halfway throught the book that told me too much. I really could have figured out the mystery on my own. There were enough clues, and the clues were so beautiful.
I enjoyed the romance between Lottie and Charlie. This is a YA novel, and reads at an age appropriate level. But it was still sweet.
Overall, I'm glad I bought this book. It's a keeper for my bookshelf.
Wow, I am so glad I bought this book. It was unlike any other paranormal or fantasy romance book I have ever read. The focus is not so much the romance between Lottie and Charlie, but rather their questions about who we are & what is real. The story starts with Lottie, an amnesic girl, waking up in a forest outside a weird & fantastical city called Abeo, where people never venture out after dark because the Snatchers (grotesque, creepy angels with beaks and wings made out of bones) might dive from the skies and take you - where to, no one knows. Lottie is found by Charlie, a charming girl who quickly falls for Lottie, and brought back to a safe house in Abeo City. Every person in this city actually woke up within its walls at some point, without any memory of who they were, and the only way they can regain their memories is by taking Nox, a kind of drug made out of the Snatcher's feathers, provided to the people by two witches called the Sixers. The problem is that the more you take Nox, the more you fade. In the end, you'll disappear entirely.
When Lottie tries to use Nox out of curiosity, she still doesn't get her memory back, and this prompts her to venture out of the city looking for answers beyond the borders of Abeo City, past the Red Line that marks the end of Abeo Territory.
'Twixt' is a tale of love, life, redemption and spirituality. I had a very hard time getting into the characters in the first part of the story (which is why I'm knocking off one star) because the main character is amnesic and feels kind of one-dimensional because of that. But I am glad I persevered, because this book is simply awesome. I have read more stories by this author and love everything she writes, so I can absolutely recommend this book, too!
I love this author, and I was happy to discover that this book did not disappoint me!
It is a very creative story about a girl who wakes up with no memory, and finds herself near a town with people addicted to gaining back their own lost memories, a couple of mysterious leaders, and creatures that snatch wanderers away at night.
This book is creative and has a sense of mystery that made me want to keep reading in order to learn more. It's predictable to assume some of what's going on, but even still, there are plenty of remaining suspenseful pieces. The book also had a very slightly disturbing and dark quality which further added to its intreagueing uniqueness. Plus, I'm a huge fan of reading something featuring a lesbian heroine!
I definitely recommend giving this story a chance!
